“You don’t fight what isn’t dangerous.” If the Church is so attacked, it’s because it is the only institution on earth capable of terrorizing the kingdom of darkness and destroying the works of the devil. Do you understand why the devil is fighting you? He’s not targeting you personally first. It’s what you carry! It’s the fire you bear! It’s the light you release! He knows that one man, one woman determined to follow Jesus to the end can turn an entire city, an entire country, an entire generation upside down. That’s why he has planned two types of scandals to make those who follow Jesus fall. But today, I’ve come to tell you… it will fail in the name of Jesus Christ!
Is someone there? You didn’t say amen! Then open your ears wide because this word is for you! In Jude 1:3, it is written:
I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.
This morning, the Holy Spirit is sending me to urge you to fight… not against flesh and blood, but for the faith that was entrusted to you. Because faith will be attacked! The devil has a plan. And if you don’t have roots, if you are not rooted in the Word of God, if you are not established in the love of Christ – then one single offense, one single persecution may be enough to scandalize you and tear you off the path of life.
Because the one who possesses faith possesses the power of God! Paul declared in Romans 1:16:
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.
The message of Jesus Christ is a spiritual bomb against injustices, against the grip of sin, against demonic family ties. No other message, no other ideology, no religion has the power to resurrect a dead person, to restore a broken heart, to free a tormented soul. Buddhism doesn’t do it. Hinduism doesn’t either. And all the philosophies have bowed before the reality of the grave. But only one died, only one descended into the lower regions of the earth, only one took the keys of death and Hades: Jesus Christ! He rose, alive for eternity, and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms. Can somebody say amen!
That’s why the devil is fighting you. He’s not afraid of your voice, he fears your fire. He knows that a criminal like Moses can become a deliverer. He knows that an immoral person can become a soul-winner. He knows that an alcoholic can become a preacher. You don’t understand why you’re being attacked? It’s because you carry a seed, a word that has the power to transform your entire environment. And that’s why Satan has prepared two types of scandals.
The scandal – the Greek word is scandalizo – is an offense, a stumbling block. It’s a shock, a tremor that shakes your soul so deeply that you no longer know if you will continue to follow Jesus. And the first type of scandal is an event. A death, an injustice, a slander, a tribulation… But the event is not the real problem. Jesus says it in Matthew 13:20-21.
The one who receives the Word with joy but has no root in himself: when tribulation or persecution arises because of the Word, he quickly stumbles.
It’s not the trial that destroys, it’s the absence of roots.
You see, there are events — if you are not rooted, they will make your faith waver. You’ll be shaken. You’ll fall. You weren’t prepared. You didn’t pray for your heart to go deep, to be rooted in the love of God, in the knowledge of God, in the revelation of His faithfulness. And then the trial comes. It doesn’t come to kill you, it comes to test your faith. And if you’re not solid, you’ll say: “What’s the point? Why pray? Why forgive? I’m done! I’ve been too hurt. I’ve been too mistreated.”
But it’s not the events that make you fall. It’s your lack of depth. Is someone following me?
Every thing that pushes me to say: “I’d rather stop giving, loving, serving, praying,” that’s a scandal. An offended heart says: “It’s not worth it anymore. I’d rather go back to my old life.” Even if you’re physically in church, if you no longer live according to the Word, you’ve been scandalized. And I declare today, by the Holy Spirit, that this trap is broken in the name of Jesus!
The second type of scandal is people. And among them lie the worst traps for immature souls. Jesus says it in Luke 17:1:
It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to the one through whom they come.
These people practice things that break the faith of the weak. They call themselves pastors, prophets, apostles… but in reality, they are agents infiltrated by the enemy into the house of God. False prophets, false shepherds, manipulators, abusers.
And you, you had a good heart, you wanted to move forward, you wanted to give yourself… But that person broke you. They abused you. You saw horror in the house of God. And then you said: “Stop. That’s it.” You may have continued the form, the ritual, the attendance. But the faith? You abandoned it. You no longer practice the Word. You believe God exists. But you no longer live for Him. You’ve been scandalized.
Do you now understand why Jesus says: “Woe to the one through whom the scandal comes”? Because of that person, a small one, a fragile one, a well-intentioned one was destroyed.
But the Holy Spirit tells you today: never again let a creature decide your eternity! You want to keep a boyfriend, a girlfriend, at the cost of God? But that person will leave you. Only God has promised: “I will never leave you.” Never again let anyone push you to abandon the author of life. They are not your model. The church is not your foundation. It’s Jesus. It’s His Word!
And in Matthew 24:10, Jesus says:
Many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
And many will abandon the faith. Do you see what’s happening around us? Outside, persecution. Inside, confusion. Satan is launching a coordinated attack. He knows the true church is his worst nightmare. So he sows weeds among the wheat. He sends lions disguised as sheep. What’s the goal? To make you say: “I was better off before. I give up.”
But if you understand this, you will no longer be trapped. This spirit of confusion is a strategic trap so that you abandon the faith and are disqualified. But the devil is a liar. You are in the right place. The Church is under attack because it carries a mandate. You are part of the most dangerous army against the works of the evil one.
So today, make a firm decision. Don’t spit out the Word when it’s difficult. Cry out to God: “Lord, make me love Your Word!” Cry out to God: “I want to be rooted in Your love, in Your truth! Don’t let me be a superficial Christian anymore!” Oh Lord, even if I fall, I will rise again. My soul says: have mercy on me! I will follow Jesus no matter the cost, all the way to eternity!
Father, I come to You today as a tired but determined soldier. I’ve understood the devil’s schemes. I refuse to fall into his scandals. Give me a heart rooted in Your love. Root me in faith. Bring me back to the path of Your living Word. Even if I have fallen, I rise and return to Your light. I choose You, again and always. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen!
🙏 If you have never given your life to Jesus, say this prayer with faith:
Lord Jesus, I give You my life today. I acknowledge that I have sinned, that I abandoned Your Word. But I believe that You died for my sins, and that You rose again to save me. Give me Your Holy Spirit. Change my life. Make me a disciple who walks with You every day. In the name of Jesus, amen.
