When you draw near to the presence of God, it is never casual. It is always a privilege. Is anyone happy to be in the presence of God this morning? Because every time the Lord draws you near, every time He pulls you toward Himself, He grants you an INCREDIBLE grace. You do not come on your own—you are grace-drawn. Can someone say amen? Say with me: I am a grace that God draws!
But also learn to honor this presence. You think you honor God, and yet you continuously arrive late to your appointments with Him! Would you do that with your pastor? Would you do that with a head of state? You have an appointment with the King of kings, and you show up like it’s nothing? You say “Lord, I’m sorry,” but that day, you were able to run for a job interview! Learn to honor God. Walking with God begins with respecting Him.
Because God is a God of order. He said, “Those who honor Me, I will honor,” and I’m shocked to see how many people pray, fast, seek God but don’t respect Him. You can’t expect something from someone you treat as insignificant. You beg Him with your lips, but you despise Him by your actions. Do you think God answers just anyone? No. He is slow to anger, but He doesn’t respond to everyone. He doesn’t answer when you don’t honor Him.
This is why this week, we had our week of spiritual refreshing. Morning, noon, and evening, God was calling you into His presence. Did you obey? Or did you let excuses stop you? When you come to pray, even if it’s just one hour, God sees. He sees your heart. He takes note of your effort. He sees your sacrifice. He marks it in His book. But if everything you do for God costs you nothing, know this: you will go nowhere. Absolutely nowhere.
We are talking about the necessity of walking with God. And you cannot walk with God without faith. Faith is essential. It is crucial. Colossians 2:6 says: “Therefore, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith.” It’s not just about receiving Him. It’s about walking IN HIM, being rooted and built up IN HIM, established in FAITH. That’s what God desires. Not flaky people, not unstable ones, but solid men and women, consistent, firmly established in their faith.
Galatians 5:16 adds: “Walk by the Spirit.” It’s good to have received the Spirit, but it’s better to walk with Him. He’s not just there to dwell in you. He is there to guide you. Lead you. Direct you in all the ways of God. Are you under His control? Are you walking by Him? Talk to Him! Say: Holy Spirit, help me walk this week! Help me! Help me to be sensitive to Your voice. Help me to live according to Your directions.
The Holy Spirit loves when we say: “HELP ME.” Learn this prayer. Learn this sincere supplication. Between you and Him, it’s not a religious formula. It’s not a ritual. It’s an intimate relationship. Private conversations. Every morning, every evening, tell Him: Help me! I know nothing. You know everything. I want to walk, but I don’t know where. So help me.
Otherwise you’ll be like a married man who no longer speaks to his wife. He’s there. She’s there. But there’s nothing between them. No communication. No love. No closeness. That’s what many Christians become: the Holy Spirit is there, but there’s nothing between Him and them.
Learn the heart-to-heart prayer. “Help me. Help me, Spirit of God. I am ignorant. I don’t even know how to pray. Help me to pray. Help me to feel Your heart. Help me to do what You want, not what I want. Help me to honor You. Help me to walk by faith.”
This cry is not just a formula. It’s a cry that pierces the spiritual world. A desperate cry. Jesus said:
God will bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night.
Yes, God responds to cries. But deep cries, coming from thirst, pain, the anguish of a heart that longs to know God. It’s not sweet little prayers that He hears. It’s not: “Lord, if You want to, do it.” No! It’s: Lord, I want to! Help me! I am desperate for You! I cannot stay where I am! Help me.
Those who obtain God are those who pursue Him. Those who cry out to Him, relentlessly. As long as you want to go on without Him, you will see nothing. But the day you cry, “Help me!” He will raise you up.
The Holy Spirit is the One through whom Jesus was transformed. For 30 years, Jesus had done nothing. Nothing extraordinary. Heaven remained closed. Until the day the Spirit descended. When He came, everything changed. How is it that the Spirit has come upon you, and nothing changes? I refuse. Say it: I refuse to stay at the same level! Help me, Holy Spirit! You helped Jesus. Help me too! You are my helper. Manifest Yourself!
Are you indifferent to the Spirit? Do you refuse to consult Him? Then you are exposed. Exposed to darkness. Because Satan is looking for men too. If he didn’t get your parents, he wants you. And if you are not hidden in Christ, you are vulnerable. That is why we must walk with God, by faith. It is a weapon. A shield. An access to the supernatural.
Hebrews 10:38 says, “The just shall live by faith. But if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.”
You cannot live with God, advance with Him without deep trust in Him. And this trust comes as you learn to know Him. You can rely on others’ faith for a time, but not forever. You must grow, build your own faith. Do you hear? You must live by YOUR faith. Not your father’s, not your mother’s, not your pastor’s. By YOUR faith!
And without faith, it is impossible to please Him.
This is why the people of Israel, despite the miraculous signs they saw in the wilderness — pillar of fire, manna from heaven, Red Sea parted — they died in the desert. Because they murmured. They did not believe. Murmuring reveals unbelief. And unbelief kills you. It shuts the doors of the promise.
But walk by faith. Believe that God exists. That He is real. That He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Seek Him in retreats. In fasting. In prayer. In solitude. Seek Him, seek Him, seek Him again — because He allows Himself to be found. And what God wants to do, He will never do through those who are indifferent. He will act through those who cry out, those who do not stop.
There are types of faith:
You think you are living? But are you ready to die in faith? Those who were devoured by lions laughed, smiled, sang. They were ready to lose everything — except their faith! And to this day, their blood still speaks.
As long as you live, walk by faith. And if you must die, then die in faith. Do not deny Jesus. Walk. Run. Fly. But always walk by HIS faith. Do you have the faith to be born again? Glory to God. Now you must grow toward faith to live in the Kingdom. To live in God, for God, by God. Abraham did not know God. He had never heard of Him. But when God appeared to him, he walked with Him by faith… and became the father of faith.
So now I ask you:
Holy Spirit, help me. Help me to honor Your presence. Help me to walk by faith. I refuse to look at circumstances more than I look at Your Word. I want to walk with You, in Your fire, in Your holiness, in Your truth. I don’t want to fall back. I refuse an ordinary life. Fill me each day, help me to follow You, to live for You. In the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
🙏 If you have never received the life of Jesus, say this prayer in faith:
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Transform my life, make me a child of God, and lead me to walk in Your righteousness. Amen.
