THE NECESSITY OF CRYING OUT TO GOD TO WALK WITH GOD: THE FEAR OF GOD! – Apostle Yves CASTANOU

The necessity of crying out to God to walk with God: the fear of God

Everything you will do tomorrow is what’s in your heart today.

So I ask you a question: what is in your heart? What does your heart contain? You see, everything starts there. When God looks at a man, He doesn’t see your nice shirt or your title. He looks at your heart. Because the quality of your walk with Him depends on it. And I tell you this plainly today: you cannot walk with God without the fear of God. It is not possible. You can speak in tongues, preach like fire, lead worship, and fill stadiums — but if there is no fear of God, God is not walking with you. He walks with those who revere Him, those who have deep respect, a reverence in their heart for His person, for His presence, for His holiness.

David understood this, and that’s why he cried out to God. Psalm 86 says:

O Lord, teach me your ways… unite my heart to fear your name.

There’s the man after God’s heart. That is why God loved him so much. What God is looking for is not your talent. God seeks a heart filled with the fear of His name.

One of the greatest tragedies of this generation is the absence of fear. We have filled churches with prayers, praise, programs. But if God looks at our hearts, He sees attitudes that repel Him. And the worst part is, we’re not even shocked anymore. Where is the true Church? Where is the Church that fears God? Where are the men and women who are inwardly shaken when they realize their spiritual state?

Why do I cry out to God? Because your human efforts will never be enough. It’s too dark. The darkness is thick. This world, listen to me carefully, possesses an invisible army whose goal is to keep you blocked, limited, hindered — your family, your calling, your projects, your ministry, your marriage. This is not a story. It is reality. You want to give birth? You want to grow? You want to enter the dimension God planned for you? Then you have to push. And to push in the spiritual realm is to CRY OUT TO GOD.

You must learn to cry out. The kind of cry that comes from a spiritual womb in labor. The cry of a woman giving birth. She’s not putting on makeup. She’s not having a conversation. She CRIES OUT, she PUSHES until the child comes out. And it’s the same spiritually. Do you want to see God? Do you want to see the manifestation of the promise? Then CRY OUT. Your next level is in the cry. Your deliverance, your breakthrough, your impact, your growth — it all begins with that deep cry to God.

David said:

From the end of the earth I cry to you… lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Psalm 61)

He acknowledges his inability. He acknowledges that he can’t do it on his own. He saw his limits and he cried. That rock is the next dimension you’re trying to reach but can’t touch without God. Your will is not enough. Your intelligence is not enough. You must CRY OUT.

And when you cry out, my brother, my sister, you don’t cry out lightly. There are cries that shake heaven. There are supplications that mobilize angels. These are the cries of a broken heart. So I tell you, when you want to walk with God, your mouth must be on fire but your heart even more.

Walking with God is not a religious walk. It is communion, closeness. It is intimacy between a man and his Creator. God is not first looking for a servant. He is seeking a faithful bride. The One you received, Jesus Christ, lives in you by the Holy Spirit. He is not a breeze. He is not a feeling. He is God, the God of glory, the God of holiness, the God of fire who dwells in you. He is there to help you. He is there to transform you. He is there to make you a different person.

But He has rules. You cannot walk with God and do your own will. You must walk in submission. Walk in the Spirit. Paul said in Galatians 5:16:

Walk by the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.

It’s an imperative. It’s a spiritual law. So ask yourself: how often do you truly pray that God helps you walk in the Spirit?

And that’s where it all begins: the HEART. That is what matters to God. That is what blocks or releases your relationship with Him. You want to walk with Him? Start by examining what’s in your heart. He said:

Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save… but your iniquities have separated you from your God. (Isaiah 59)

What you do with your body is just the expression of what inhabits your heart!

Jesus said it in Mark 7:

It is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come — sexual immorality, slander, wickedness…

Everything is born in the heart. That’s why God says:

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23)

Your future is already in your heart today.

And pay attention: what attracts demons are the spiritual odors of rottenness coming from your heart. Where there is garbage, flies gather. And Beelzebub is indeed the prince of flies. Why do demons keep returning? Because even if you cry out, “In the name of Jesus,” if your heart is not pure, the odors draw them. What you refuse to deal with becomes an open door.

So cry out like David:

Create in me a pure heart, O God! Renew a steadfast spirit within me!

But it doesn’t end there. There is a heart posture that God wants to plant in you after purifying you: THE FEAR OF GOD. The greatest need of this generation is the restoration of THE FEAR OF THE LORD. This generation loves God, but does not fear Him. It knows how to sing, dance, preach, prophesy — but no longer reveres God in the intimacy of the heart. The fear of God is what keeps you upright when no one is watching.

In Deuteronomy 4:10, God said:

I want them to learn to FEAR ME all the days they live on the earth.

And in Proverbs 8:13, it is written:

To fear the Lord is to hate evil.

You want to know whether you fear God? Look at how you react to sin. If evil no longer bothers you, you have lost the fear. If you slander cheerfully, if you sleep around freely without being broken inside, you no longer have the fear. Joseph looked at Potiphar’s wife and said:

How could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?

And he fled. He fled because he had the fear of God within him. That is a circumcised heart.

And I tell you, this fear can be planted. It can be cultivated. David also said:

Incline my heart to fear your name.

And in the book of Acts, we see that:

The fear of God came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were performed. (Acts 2:43)

Power is activated where God is honored. In Acts 9:31, it says that:

The Church walked in the fear of the Lord and was strengthened by the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

This is the model. It’s not about the form or the crowd. It’s the fear of God in the hearts of the people.

Brother, sister, do you want to walk with God? Then pray like David:

Teach me your ways, O Lord, and unite my heart to fear your name.

Let us pray together

Father, have mercy on me. My heart has been filled with so many things that do not honor You. I come sincerely. Purify me. But I also ask You: place the fear of Your name in my heart. Give me a heart that respects You, reveres You, listens to You and follows You. Don’t let me deceive myself. Give me Your truth deep within. Break my pride, uproot my lusts, and birth in me a true reverence. Let this fear not be for a day, but for my whole life. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

🙏 If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, say this prayer with faith:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe that You died for my sins and that You rose again. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Transform my life and lead me on Your path. Amen.
