Don’t stay on milk, crave the solid food of the Word of God! APOSTLE YVAN CASTANOU

Don’t stay on milk—desire the solid food of God’s Word!

Why do so many Christians stagnate in their faith? Why, after years in the Lord, do some still live like spiritual children—frustrated, unstable, and tossed about by circumstances? The Word of God is clear: as long as an heir is a child, he differs in no way from a slave, although he is the master of all (Galatians 4:1-2). It is therefore possible to have access to an inheritance and yet never manifest it because of spiritual immaturity.

The question is simple: do you want to grow? Do you want to see the glory of God manifested through your life? Then it is imperative that you no longer settle for milk but pursue the solid food of the Word of God!

For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:13-14)

Milk is good for a time, for a beginning, but it cannot be the eternal foundation of your spiritual life. It is time to desire to grow. It is time to reject spiritual immaturity and dive into the true substance that transforms a Christian into a conqueror.

The danger of staying on milk

In the natural world, a baby does not remain fed on milk forever. As early as the first few months, dietary diversification becomes essential. If a child refuses solid food and persists in drinking only milk beyond a certain age, they will suffer from serious nutritional deficiencies. The same is true spiritually. God always starts by feeding us milk, teaching us the basics of faith: grace, love, blessing, prosperity, healing, inner peace… And that’s good! But after a while, if we remain attached only to these elements and refuse to move to the next stage, we become spiritually sick.

I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. (1 Corinthians 3:2-3)

A Christian fed only on the milk of the Gospel remains carnal, influenced by emotions, desires, and impulses. They become unstable, easily hurt, constantly offended, always waiting for God to give them something instead of looking for what they can offer to God.

The devil knows that as long as you stay at this stage, you are harmless. You pray only to receive blessings, you chase after prophecies, but you will never manifest the power and authority within you. That is why it is imperative to move on to solid food—because that is where transformation begins!

Solid food: the key to the Kingdom of God

The milk of the Word of God is focused on your personal needs: your prosperity, your healing, your destiny, your blessings. But solid food speaks of God’s interests: advancing the Kingdom, winning souls, dying to self, walking by the Spirit, doing His will—whatever the cost.

Solid food consists of those words that do not flatter your ego but shape your inner being. These are the messages that call you to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Christ. It means being taught obedience when nothing makes sense, perseverance in trial, sacrifice, service, and unconditional love. This food is hard to swallow for those who are still carnal, but it is vital!

My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work. (John 4:34)

He did not live to satisfy His desires but to fulfill a higher purpose. That is why He was powerful. That is why the devil could not touch Him! His gaze was fixed on God and not on Himself.

If you want to break the endless cycle of spiritual frustration, if you truly want to experience victory over sin, if you want to see the power of God manifested through you, then it is imperative that you embrace this solid food. It will crucify your flesh. But it will reveal the hidden glory within you!

Let us stop being immature Christians

Look at what is happening in the Body of Christ today! Christians who abandon their faith at the first sign of trouble, people who leave churches because they are offended, believers who seek only blessings and flee from teachings that require commitment. Why so much instability? Because we have fed a generation of believers with milk and not with solid food!

When you feed yourself properly, you become spiritually unshakable. The enemy may attack, trials may hit your life, but you will remain standing because your roots will be deep! You will no longer seek only God’s benefits—you will seek to know Him, love Him, serve Him, and obey Him, even when it requires sacrifice.

God is looking for mature men and women who can carry His burdens. He is seeking intercessors who weep for souls, not Christians who cry because they have not yet received a spouse! He is looking for laborers ready to go into His harvest—people who are no longer only concerned with themselves but with the expansion of the Kingdom. Is that you?

If you are tired of going in circles, then decide today to desire solid food. Break away from the childish mentality of self-centered Christianity and ask God to open your eyes to what He truly expects from you.

At the heart of the Bible

  • Hebrews 5:11-14 – The shift from milk to solid food
  • 1 Corinthians 3:2-3 – Carnal Christians and their stagnation
  • Galatians 4:1-2 – Inheritance cannot be manifested without maturity

Let’s pray together

Lord, I refuse to remain an immature Christian, always asking without ever giving myself to You. Today, I choose to move from milk to solid food. Lord, shape me, break all selfishness in me, and give me a heart fully devoted to You. I want to seek You for who You are and not just for what You give. I want to live for Your interests and not my own. Father, deliver me from spiritual superficiality and establish me in Your Kingdom with maturity! In the mighty Name of Jesus, amen!

🙏 If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, pray this with faith:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe that You died for my sins and that You rose again. Today I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Transform my life and lead me on Your path. Amen.
