The ANAGKAZO ATTITUDE, THE IMPORTANCE OF LAY PEOPLE AND HOW TO START A CHURCH | Bishop Emmanuel NTERFUL

The Anagkazo attitude, the importance of lay people, and how to start a church

God is summoning an army. This is not an ordinary seminar. This is not just another conference. This is a divine appointment! It is a call, a summons, a spiritual confrontation. God is releasing a grace, transmitting a mantle, equipping a generation that didn’t see it coming. This is not about those with a title or position in the Church. No! God is calling Gideons! Men and women who, just yesterday, didn’t believe they were fit to serve, but who today hear His voice and make themselves available.

Luke 14:26 – If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

This is what God is looking for! Men and women willing to abandon everything to follow His call. Lives totally dedicated to the advancement of His Kingdom.

Today, God is not only calling you to serve in an auxiliary ministry. It is no longer just a matter of protocol, worship, or security. It goes deeper than that. God is calling you to become a soul winner, a preacher, a shepherd, one who empties hell and fills the Kingdom of Heaven! It’s no longer time to limit ourselves to our own comfort. It is time to respond like Isaiah: “Here I am, Lord, send me!”

The spirit of Anagkazo: an attitude of conquest

The Kingdom of Heaven will not be established by passivity. It requires an aggressive force, a zeal that refuses to accept the status quo.

Luke 14:23 – Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house may be full.

This word ANAGKAZO means to compel, to force, to persuade insistently!

Look at how some worldly industries use aggressive strategies to influence the masses. Advertising is everywhere. They reach into our homes. They impose their content. They’ve mastered the art of pushing people to adopt a lifestyle. But the Church? We often remain silent. We wait for souls to come on their own. This is a mistake! We must go after them! We must go after them with prayer, with perseverance, with the power of the Spirit!

Our invitations must no longer be naive. We must be persuasive! An evangelist is a witness! What God has done in your life, tell it! Speak of how He took you out of sin, of how He transformed your heart. Tell them He can do the same for them! We need to wake up and embrace the Anagkazo spirit. Cast aside lukewarmness and become architects of revival!

The importance of lay people in the expansion of the kingdom

God’s work will never grow solely through full-time pastors. Christians must understand that they are all called to build the Church. The apostle Paul was a tentmaker, and yet he planted churches everywhere. The greatest revival movements were not carried by professionals, but by ordinary men and women fully devoted.

Matthew 9:37 – The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

Whether you’re an engineer, doctor, lawyer, business owner, or student, God wants to use you! It’s not about quitting your profession, but seeing it as a mission field. Rise up and be a shepherd in your professional environment! Be a pillar for a church plant!

The Methodist Church experienced an extraordinary revival thanks to the volunteers John Wesley trained and sent. These workers, though lacking deep theological training, were filled with fire and zeal to preach the Gospel, and they shook England for the glory of God! To this day, God wants to do the same.

This message is a clear call: laypeople must become the main agents of revival. There are already thousands of churches in Africa, Europe, and around the world that were planted by people who were not pastors at first. But because they answered the call, because they agreed to pay the price, God used them to impact lives.

How to start a church: essential keys

  1. Count the cost: Church planting requires sacrifice. If you’re seeking comfort, this is not for you.
  2. Don’t be discouraged: Every church starts small. Be patient and faithful.
  3. Two or three are enough: Don’t wait for a crowd. What is small today can become a church of thousands tomorrow.
  4. Build on prayer: There is no growth without a solid foundation of prayer.
  5. Be a motivator: Speak faith! Encourage those who join you!
  6. You don’t need a title: God is looking for men and women ready to say, “Here I am, send me.”

Let’s pray together

Father, thank You for this call. Thank You for this challenge. Today, I decide not to remain passive any longer. Use me as a laborer in Your harvest. May I be a soul winner, a preacher of the Gospel, a church builder. Give me the fire for Your work, the courage to go, the strength to persevere. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen!

🙏 If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, say this prayer with faith:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Transform my life and lead me on Your path. Amen.
