Day 1 – SPECIAL CAMP – THE SMALLEST ONE SHALL BECOME A THOUSAND – Rev. Benny DAG-ANNAN

The least becomes a thousand: be lit for your generation

Is there a “least” among us who is ready to become a thousand? God did not destine you for a hidden, insignificant, or extinguished life. He called you to shine, to make an impact, to be a lamp that lights up your generation!

But the question is: Are you lit? Or are you simply an unlit lamp, placed under a bushel, unable to bring light around you?

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14).

Yet many Christians live as if this word didn’t exist.

John the Baptist, a model of light

John the Baptist understood something. Jesus gave this powerful testimony about him:

John was a burning and shining lamp (John 5:35).

It’s not enough to be a lamp, you must also be lit! There’s a difference between having potential and releasing that potential. Many were born to illuminate, but remain unlit, unused, ineffective against the world’s darkness.

And what if the problem with modern Christianity is precisely that? Thousands of pastors, servants of God, capable believers—but not lit. But today, God wants to change that!

The problem of unlit lamps

The Holy Spirit has revealed a troubling truth: the majority of pastors and Christians are unlit lamps.

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house (Matthew 5:15).

If your light doesn’t shine, it’s because it hasn’t been lit yet.

Christianity becomes ineffective when those who are supposed to be light remain in the shadows. John the Baptist was not the light, but he bore witness to the light. And you—are you truly bearing witness? Are you a voice or just an echo?

This world is plunged into ever-deepening darkness.

See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples (Isaiah 60:2).

As darkness thickens, Christians remain passive, silent, unlit.

Look around you:

  • Corruption
  • Immorality
  • Identity confusion
  • Perversion
  • Compromise
  • Attacks on the Christian faith

Darkness is gaining ground, and we are the hope that God has placed on earth to counter this infernal invasion.

Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn (Isaiah 60:3).

The key to being lit: ask God to light you up

The solution is simple, yet radical. We must ask God to light us up! As crazy as it may seem, many don’t even dare to pray this way.

  • Ask God to light you up!

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world (John 1:9).

It’s not enough to receive salvation—you must be filled with the fire of God, be ignited, become a living torch that consumes the works of darkness!

John was a lit lamp, burning and shining. But what will your story be? After your life on earth, what will be said of you? That you were an unlit lamp? That you were just a lamp sitting on a shelf, without impact? No! From today on, your prayer must be: Lord, light me up! Make me like John: a lamp that burns and shines in my generation!

Carrying the burden: responsibility for the building of the church

But being lit is only the beginning. You must also carry the burden of God’s work.

Too many Christians have a spectator mindset in the Kingdom. They come to church, they listen, they receive—but refuse to carry the burden. While a few sweat, fast, pray, and build, others passively attend. It’s a scandal!

I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me (Numbers 11:14).

Following Jesus doesn’t mean just watching Him build His Church—it means participating. It means taking on the yoke, sharing the burden.

For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:21).

Play your role: rise up, burn, impact!

Today, God wants to pour out on you the spirit that rested on His servants. He wants to multiply the workers, spread His fire, raise up an army of believers ready to make hell tremble.

  • Have you decided to carry the burden?
  • Will you be among those who don’t settle for being saved, but who ask to be lit?

God is calling you. His light must shine through you. Look around: souls are perishing, families are suffering, young people are bound in darkness. You are the one God chose to be a response!

Let’s pray together

Lord, today I stand before You and I ask You to light me up. I refuse to be an unlit lamp. Burn within me anything that keeps me from illuminating my generation.

I take on the responsibility of carrying the burden of the Church. I refuse to remain passive. Use me, fill me, ignite me! Make me a living lamp, for the glory of Your name, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!

If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, make this prayer with faith:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Transform my life and lead me in Your way. Amen.

At the heart of the Bible

  • Isaiah 60:1-3 – Arise, shine, for your light has come.
  • John 1:9 – The true light gives light to everyone.
  • Philippians 2:19-21 – Too few truly care about God’s work.
