It is not normal to ask for God’s glory while rejecting the means through which He manifests it! It is not normal to desire the crown without accepting purification. It is not normal to want to see the light shine without letting someone remove the dirt that blocks it! And the Lord sent me today to tell you: let them do their work.
It is not to find you a spouse. It is not to connect you to financial destiny. It’s not even to pray for you to get a house or break through in your business. Their work is to perfect you!
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets… for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry… till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
The problem isn’t your opportunities. The problem isn’t your environment. The problem is you. It’s what you’re carrying from the inner “village,” that place where, for years, you were shaped by another system. What you received from your past, your culture, your family, your accumulated wounds, is blocking the radiance of the light already within you. You are light. That’s a fact. Paul says it in 1 Thessalonians 5:5: “You are all children of the light.” So why doesn’t it shine? Because you’re refusing to let the hands appointed by God wash away what conceals you.
When you came to church, you came with your past, with 10, 15, 20, even 30 years of behaviors, reflexes, reasonings, and conditionings inherited from the “village.” And even if you shout the name of Jesus, even if you speak in tongues, even if you prophesy, as long as the clothes of the village remain on you, the light will not come out.
Look closely. You want to get married, you want to be rich, you want to influence the world. But let me tell you: in your current state, you are not ready. If you’re given a husband today, you’ll lose him by the end of the week. If you’re given a billion today, you’ll become the next victim of zeal without foundation. Why? Because Christ formed in you hasn’t yet emerged. Because you haven’t been washed. Because you’re refusing purification.
And God knows what He’s doing. The plan is already there. The plan is perfect. You don’t need to add anything. But you must allow men and women appointed by Him to come and remove the layers of spiritual dirt you’ve accumulated. Ephesians 5 reveals that Jesus washes His Church by the Word to present her to Himself glorious, without blemish, wrinkle, or any such thing. That means that as long as you don’t accept to be washed, you cannot enter into glory.
You might be like that child of a billionaire who was kidnapped at birth. For 30 years, he lived in a village, trained to think like everyone else, to beg, to be dependent. But one day, his father finds him. He brings him back to the royal house. The child arrives—he has royal blood, he has the king’s DNA, he’s even good-looking… but his thoughts, his language, his posture, and his reactions are still those of a villager.
Is he a royal son? Yes! But can he act and decide like a king? No. He must first unlearn. He’s not being given royalty—it’s already inside him. But it has to be revealed by removing 30 years of wrong thinking, fear, lies, insecurity… And that, that’s the role of Hegai, that guardian in Esther 2 who represented the prophets appointed to prepare the chosen ones to stand before the king. What Esther experienced wasn’t magical transformation; it was strategic purification. She had to be washed, anointed, prepared. Not with all the artifices, no. Not with what the world uses to seduce. But with the prophet’s instructions and the humility of a bride submitted to a calling.
And here’s the trap many Christians fall into. You think your pastors, your spiritual leaders, your mentors are here to solve your essential needs. But that’s not their job. It’s not even in their job description.
But you refuse, you run, you argue, you criticize. You want people to respect you while you’re still walking around with the stench of the “village.” It doesn’t make sense. You say you’re ready, but at the slightest correction, you cry. At the slightest instruction, you push back. And at the slightest call to show up, you disappear without explanation. Your absence in a meeting is already rebellion. King Saul said to Samuel: “Honor me before the people,” even though God had just rejected him. He preferred human honor over divine forgiveness. That’s the same behavior that drives you when you pretend before folks at church while rejecting the deep change appointments.
Yes, you want the anointing. You want the glory. You want the dimension of the greats. But you refuse the washbasin. You refuse the tub, the prophet’s rough hand, the sharp word that removes what smells bad. Esther let Hegai do his work. Vashti didn’t. Vashti refused to appear with the crown. She was replaced.
Don’t think you’re irreplaceable.
You say, “I’m not in the mood.” All right. Vashti wasn’t in the mood either. She was replaced. But you—you belong to the glorious Church. And that Church has no Plan B. Jesus is coming back for a bride without spot or wrinkle. Haven’t reached that level yet? Then let them do their work.
You don’t even know that God has already given you what you’re asking for. You’re praying, “Lord, give me finances,” while in heaven, the funds are already released. But down here, one thing is holding you back: the wall you built with your attitude, your character, your unhealed wounds, your ego.
But your iniquities have separated you from your God. (Isaiah 59:2)
You want spiritual results but reject spiritual discipline. You want to break through in your calling but won’t accept being dealt with. You want God’s glory on your life but don’t want anyone to touch your tongue, your inappropriate humor, your laziness, your image obsession. You want to receive everything without losing anything. But that’s not how it works.
When you come to church, don’t come to collect blessings—come to let something drop off. Come to let a malformed behavior be crucified. Come to say, “Lord, go even deeper today, tear out what’s blocking Your light.” Come like a patient comes to the hospital:
And I assure you: if you accept the process, if you let the apostles, pastors, prophets do their work—not by seeking to please you, but to perfect you—the light of Christ will burst forth. You will become that spring of living water for others. You will become that river of life mentioned in John 7:38, and everywhere you go, death will turn to life. Wherever you are, Christ will be visible.
So let me ask you: will you keep walking like a king in the village? Or will you go through the washing of the word to become a true reflection of His glory?
Lord, today I give up my resistance. I confess I have often blocked your work in me. Forgive me. I come to you, naked and broken, and I say: do what You want to do. I refuse to remain a Vashti—beautiful and decorated but disobedient and replaceable. I want to be an Esther: refined, purified, ready to reflect Your glory. Remove everything that hinders Your light from shining fully in me. Wash me until I’m transformed. Purify me until nothing is seen in me but You. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
Lord Jesus, I recognize that I need You. Forgive my sins and transform me. Today I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your presence and lead me into Your will. Amen.
- Ephesians 5:26-27 – To sanctify her by the word
- John 9:7 – Go to Siloam, wash your eyes, and you will see
- 1 Peter 1:7 – The testing of your faith produces pure gold
- Colossians 2:16-17 – The Old Testament: a shadow of things to come
- Romans 12:1 – The living sacrifice
- Luke 9:23 – Take up your cross daily
Have you let spiritual parents perfect what Christ already planted in you? Or are you still resisting correction? If today you decide to accept the process, know this: you will become a true son, a true daughter of the light. So don’t waste time.
