You cannot listen to God with your mouth turned toward the world. You cannot lift your hands singing “Yeshua” when your soul is still singing Shakira. At some point, you will have to choose.
But why do so many young people still hesitate? Why does it seem so hard to choose between the sound of Heaven and the rhythms of the world? Joel 2:28 says: “Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions,” but how can we prophesy when our ears are saturated with polluted sounds? How can we see clearly when our eyes are fixed on musical idols?
The struggle is real. But there is an answer. And that answer is Jesus Christ, fully formed in you – in your thoughts, in your choices, in what you allow through your headphones.
God wants to restore what music has corrupted. But be careful: He won’t come clean up for you. He comes knocking at the door – it’s up to you to open and tear down illegitimate altars.
Wake up. This is not entertainment. This is a war for your soul.
Many think they have to “choose a musical style.” But forget the style for a moment: choose your calling. Daniel Banam, now followed by thousands of youth, began in secular rap. He was proud, a bad singer, even his sisters mocked him. Full of anger, pornography, theft, masturbation – he hides nothing. But one day, he touched the Bible. Literally. He sat with the Word, opened it, meditated on it, reread it, absorbed it. And everything changed.
It wasn’t an effort, a spiritual marketing plan, no. It was a revelation. A conversion. And in that moment, he understood that God wanted his vocal cords, his heart, his soul. Everything.
SKS also went through the same. His little story? He used to send out his secular rap tracks. A cousin replied: “I’ll listen when you sing for the Lord.” That sentence pierced his heart. It stuck. And it led him to an irresistible conviction: that kind of inspiration, those melodies in him, didn’t come from the world. Behind that creativity was a calling. And God brought other musicians, other worshipers into his life. He aligned himself. And everything flowed.
But be careful: those two voices you hear today – Daniel and SKS – didn’t become impactful because they had talent. It’s not autotune that brings down the fire of God.
It’s the altar. Intimacy. The secret place.
Both were crystal clear: “Never value the public altar more than the secret place.” Want to impact your generation? Want to write songs that deliver and transform? Then stay intimate with God.
Music is spiritual. Every sound, every vibration, is a vehicle for a spirit. And if you don’t remain in God’s presence, what you unknowingly invite into your song could be strange fire.
And that is dangerous.
One day, Daniel sang during a choir audition. He turned around, the whole room was crying. He didn’t even understand why. God had just laid His finger down.
But what solidified the calling was the daily discipline: “Open your Bible, seek the heart of God, enter into intimacy.”
And what’s surprising? Both come from rap, yet today the youth are following them as they walk in worship and prophetic music. And it’s no coincidence. Samuel (SKS) explains: “I didn’t choose to reach young people. It was by answering God’s call that I saw them come to me in great numbers.”
Today, he prays: “Lord, help me be the answer this generation is seeking.”
This is the real issue: the youth are searching. It’s not marketing. It’s not just a trend or a buzz. We are talking about an inner void. A thirst. Young people are chasing after spirituality. Some fall into the occult. Others into addiction, toxic sounds, identity confusion fueled by polluted music.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions… (Joel 2:28)
But God said it: “Your sons and daughters will prophesy.” This generation must connect with Heaven, not with the kingdom of shadows. And you know what? You – yes you – can become a heavenly platform.
But for that to happen, you need to cut off the world’s sound.
Yes, yes, yes… we know. You want to stop. You’re tired of going back and forth. One day you’re worshiping God. The next, you’re vibing to a track filled with lust, bitterness, or violence.
And you say: I can’t do it.
But what do you really want? If you truly want to walk with God, then make a real choice. Delete the shady tracks. Cut off the polluted playlists. Make a real decision.
Change your atmosphere. Saturate yourself with the sounds of Heaven. Put on Daniel Banam, put on SKS, put on Spirit and the Bride. Let these melodies penetrate your soul, rewire your mindset. Because what you listen to fuels a belief system. This isn’t about taste, it’s about power.
Do you want to just “listen to a cool song” or do you want to “become a channel of glory”?
Choose.
And then, surround yourself. Surround yourself with those who have decided. Surround yourself with those who make no excuses. You cannot say “I want to change” while hanging out with people who normalize compromise.
Separate yourself. Yes, you’ll be alone for a while. Yes, you’ll lose friends. But make a friend in Heaven, in the secret place, and you’ll see – God will give you the right connections on Earth.
And to you who are a worship leader: be careful. This isn’t just about singing a catchy chorus well on Sunday. SKS was clear: sometimes, we want to perform to “outdo last week.” But that’s not the standard. It’s not the reaction of the crowd. It’s the gaze of God.
Because you can make the whole church fall down, people shout, raise their hands… and God says: “I wasn’t in it.”
Strange fire.
And sometimes, you want to sing Yeshua because you know it elevates the atmosphere, but God just wanted you to play a waiting note. You didn’t even listen. You just jumped in. And you touched emotions instead of touching the Spirit.
Be careful. Let your intimacy always exceed your visibility.
Father, I renounce what draws me away from You. I cut the sound of the world to hear Your voice more clearly. Today I choose to embrace a lifestyle that glorifies Your Name – even in my headphones. Lord, make me a pure channel of Your glory. Give me the strength to block, delete, sanctify myself. Let my ears become sacred ground. In Jesus’ name, amen.
🙏 If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, pray with faith:
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe You died for my sins and that You rose again. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Transform my life and lead me in Your ways. Amen.
