You received an anointing, you were touched by God… now what? What are you doing with this power that was released over your life? Will you keep it, or let it die out through negligence and lack of care?
Jesus said in Luke 4:18: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me…” He didn’t stop there. He continued by making clear the PURPOSE for which He was anointed. The anointing is not a title, it’s not a crown, it’s not a religious badge… it is power placed upon an individual for a divine mission.
And if the anointing of power is not maintained, it decreases, it extinguishes. That’s why Leviticus 6:12-13 tells us:
The fire shall be kept burning on the altar, it shall never go out. Every morning, the priest shall add firewood to it…
Maintenance is the KEY!
Look closely! The transmission of anointing is not the end goal, it is an introduction into the supernatural. Too many have received a deposit of the Holy Spirit, have experienced a powerful fire in a service… but a few weeks later, they feel empty, dry, ineffective. Why? Because they did not take care of what they received.
The fire of the Holy Spirit in you must be sustained every day! It’s not a one-night experience, it’s not an emotional touch. It is a responsibility!
Moses’ 70 elders, when they received the anointing, prophesied… but they did not continue (Numbers 11:25). Why? Because they didn’t maintain what they had received. But Joshua, on the other hand, persevered. God said to him in Joshua 1:8: “Let this book of the law never depart from your mouth…” That’s how he sustained his anointing and inherited divine destiny.
Jesus didn’t lock Himself up in a temple waiting for the sick to come. He went to them!
Matthew 9:35: “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues… healing every disease and sickness.”
The anointing of power is sustained and grows in ACTION.
Those who have received a transmission of anointing must LAY HANDS!
Mark 16:17: “And these signs shall follow them that believe: in My name… they will lay hands on the sick, and the sick shall recover.”
The Church was NEVER designed to be passive. Oh, wake up! Look for the sick, lay your hands on them! The day you start acting, you will see the fire increase. But if you do nothing, the anointing will be of no use.
When you receive a grace and don’t use it, it begins to die out. That is one of the reasons why some people experience an extraordinary visitation one day… and six months later, all that’s left is the memory of a past experience.
Spiritual boldness comes by faith. Pray for the sick! You see someone suffering? Lay your hands on them! Ask them after the prayer. Are they feeling better? No? Then pray again! Perseverance makes all the difference.
Leviticus 6 tells us that “every morning” the fire had to be rekindled!
This is the secret. Men and women of power have a lifestyle marked by:
What would happen if the entire Church understood this? Have you seen what happened when brothers and sisters simply laid hands on the sick? Over 300 instant healings in three days! And they weren’t pastors, they were men and women full of the Holy Spirit who DARED.
This is a revolution and we must continue! The anointing must not remain locked within the walls of the church. It must be carried into the streets, the workplace, the homes. The fire you received is not limited to one Sunday. Jesus started His ministry with power, and the Church must finish her assignment on earth in the same Power.
Lord God, I give YOU thanks for the anointing You have poured out. Today, I make the decision not to neglect this grace any longer. Help me keep the fire burning. Let my prayer not weaken, let my commitment not waver. I choose to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, to pray for the sick, to preach the Gospel with passion, to no longer be a passive spectator but an active worker of the Kingdom. Lord, use me powerfully! In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
