The fire of God does not come upon just anything. It does not descend upon a life filled with ambiguities, compromises, or impurities. If you want the divine fire to take over in your life, then certain things must die. Do you want to see the power of the Holy Spirit manifest mightily in your calling, in your daily life, in your impact on the world? Then prepare yourself, because the fire of God requires a sacrificial altar!
Jesus said in Acts 1:8: But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses…
Being a witness of Christ is not just about speaking of Him; it is about being the living proof of His reality, demonstrating His love, His authority, His wisdom, and His power. But this demonstration cannot happen if your own strength, your own intelligence, and your own strategies still occupy the space. The fire of God does not mix with a strange fire!
Leviticus 10:1-2 speaks of the sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, who brought a strange fire before the Lord. They took a fire that was not divine, a fire that came from themselves, from their own initiative. God did not accept it. He responded with His own fire that consumed them.
This passage is frightening but fundamental: the fire of God tolerates no mixture. It does not tolerate pride, self-sufficiency, or a false fervor that comes from the flesh and not from the Spirit.
How many people try to serve God, to worship, to preach, to evangelize, but with their own fire, their own carnal zeal? They proceed relying on their abilities, their wisdom, their intelligence. They don’t understand why the anointing does not flow powerfully, why the results are not there. It is because the wood is not yet completely dead!
Proverbs 26:20 says: Where there is no wood, the fire goes out…
The fire of God needs specific wood, dry wood, dead to itself, ready to burn completely for God without resistance, without personal claim. This fire does not come upon men and women full of themselves!
Jesus said: If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. (Luke 9:23)
This means that if you want to walk in the power of God’s fire, your ego, your own strength, and your natural intelligence must die. It is not through your own means, it is not with your human reasoning that you will accomplish the divine mission. Those who walked in a supernatural dimension understood this principle. Moses had to leave behind his Egyptian intellect, Peter had to abandon his human strength, Paul had to recognize that his wisdom was not enough!
Isaiah 40:29-31 is a crucial revelation: He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.
If you are still strong in yourself, the Lord will not fill you with His strength! Too many people want God to support their project, but God does not work that way. God is looking for weak men, men dead to themselves, so that He can take total control!
The apostle Paul grasped this principle when he wrote in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10: My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.
Listen carefully: The power of God will not come as long as your strength is still active. God is waiting for you to be exhausted, emptied of your own intelligence, stripped of your human reasoning, so that HIS POWER CAN TAKE OVER.
If the fire of God does not come simply by desiring to be powerful, then how can we receive it concretely?
Father, I recognize today that too often, I have operated in my own strength. I have tried to serve with my reasoning, with my limited love, with my natural intelligence, and I have realized that this has prevented me from seeing Your glory. Lord, I die to myself. I renounce my human fire, my reasoning, my doubts. Come, Lord, fill me with Your fire! Burn in me everything that comes from me, consume everything that is an obstacle to Your power. Let Your fire ignite me today, and propel me into a new dimension of the manifestation of Your glory! In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
Lord Jesus, I recognize that I need You. I believe that You died for my sins and that You rose again. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Transform my life and lead me in Your way. Amen.
