Oh beloved, it is time to shed light on a topic that sparks so much debate, so much resistance, and sometimes even misunderstandings! Why is it that when we talk about tithing, some people start sweating, their heart rate increases, and their thoughts become troubled? It’s as if we are touching a sensitive nerve. And yet, Jesus Himself spoke about tithing. And if Jesus spoke about it, the Holy Spirit is here to remind us of it!
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. (Malachi 3:10)
This is not a human concept, not a pastor’s strategy due to lack of resources! It is a divine principle, established from the very beginning. And today, we will remove the scales from our eyes and understand why tithing is a blessing and not a burden.
There are those who say, “Oh no, tithing belongs to the Old Testament, it was part of the Law of Moses, and we are under grace!” But my brother, my sister, listen to me carefully: tithing does not come from the Law of Moses! It existed long before! Even before the Law was given, Abraham gave the tithe to Melchizedek!
Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, brought out bread and wine […] and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. (Hebrews 7:1-3)
Ah! You see, there is an order, the order of Melchizedek, and Jesus Christ Himself was appointed High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek. If Abraham gave the tithe in this order and Jesus is part of this order, who are you to say that it is abolished?
And Jacob? Ah yes! Let’s read:
This stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth. (Genesis 28:22)
Jacob was not under the Law of Moses, and yet he decided to give his tithe. Why? Because tithing is a timeless, universal principle, a principle of the Kingdom of God.
Another lie from the devil: “I don’t earn enough to give the tithe.” No, no, no! Tithing is not a fixed amount, it is a percentage! 10% of your income—that is the tithe. If you earn a lot, it’s 10%. If you earn little, it’s 10%. If you earn nothing, of course, 10% of zero is still zero. But the problem is that some want to negotiate with God. “Lord, you see, 10% is too much… I will give 5%!” Oh really? God gives you 100 and you tell Him that giving back 10 is too much? Open your eyes, it is He who sends the provision, not you!
Every tithe of the land […], whether from the grain of the soil or the fruit of the trees, belongs to the Lord. (Leviticus 27:30)
Who does it belong to? To you? No, to the Lord! It is a consecrated thing. And what does it mean to be consecrated? It means set apart for God!
And you will understand something powerful: in the Kingdom of God, tithing is linked to income. They are like an inseparable couple. Where there is income, there must be tithing. And where there is tithing… there must be income! It is a divine cycle.
Someone once asked, “Lord, why do the children of Israel dominate everywhere even though not all of them are converted to Christ?” My brother, my sister, listen to me carefully: God has attached principles to His law. And the children of Israel, whether they know it or not, activate these principles. And these principles trigger blessings.
When you think tithing is just about money, you have missed the point! Tithing is a demonstration of faith! It is a spiritual act that opens a door. And when you activate this principle, heaven opens over you.
Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven. (Malachi 3:10)
Yes, this God you serve, this God who never lies, says: “Test me!” He didn’t say that about prayer, He didn’t say that about fasting, but about tithing. He says, try it and see!
