You think you can walk with God without faith? Without patience? You’re gravely mistaken. You want to see the fulfillment of the promises? Then prepare your heart. Because what God wants to do in your life is not in the realm of quick or instant, but eternal. He wants to build a strong heart. And for that, your faith must grow. And that faith has to become strong.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith. (Colossians 2:6-7)
Faith is not a slogan; it is a requirement. It is alive, it is measurable. But above all, it is tested and proven. You who say, “I have faith,” are you ready for the journey?
The issue today isn’t that people don’t love God. It’s that they want immediate promises, miracles without sacrifice, breakthroughs without endurance. But look at Abraham. The God of glory spoke to him! Not an angel. God spoke to him. Himself. He left everything by faith. But did he see the fulfillment immediately? No. 24 years of waiting! The God who made the promise is faithful. But before giving Isaac, God was working something in his heart. Abraham’s faith wasn’t strong on day one. It became strong.
You want to step into your destiny without passing through the school of patience? You want Isaac, but you refuse the years of silence? You refuse God’s laboratory?
The Bible says Abraham believed, and it was credited to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:6). But later, Sarah grew weary, Abraham gave in, and Ishmael was born. Why? Because even though Abraham believed, his faith was not yet strong. God was refining it.
And you? You say God spoke to you… but are you standing firm? Are you already growing impatient? Impatience has already pushed you to look for shortcuts. You’re beginning to murmur. You look at others advancing and say: “What about me?” And you don’t realize God is shaping a spiritual stature in you. The problem is not the promise. The problem is your heart. It must become steadfast.
You don’t start out with strong faith. Faith begins as a seed. And a seed must be cultivated. Faith develops like a muscle. Abraham heard God, but he also doubted. He laughed. He wavered. But God told him: “I am your shield.” And every appearance, every trial had one purpose: to strengthen Abraham until he could believe against all hope. Not believe with emotion. Not believe because everything is going well. But believe when everything is going wrong. Believe when there’s no sign. Believe when everything points to failure. This is the level of faith God is seeking.
Romans 4:20 tells us that Abraham did not waver through unbelief, but was strengthened in his faith.
That came later. Not at the beginning. God had done His work. And when God came to him and said: “Give Me Isaac,” he obeyed. Why? Because his faith had matured. Can your faith handle that level of divine requirement? Is it able to persevere until the manifestation? Or are you still making false starts with Ishmaels?
When you see someone walking in strong faith, it’s not natural. It’s because they’ve exercised it. They accepted God’s delays. They sighed, but they remained in God. They cried, but they continued. They were misunderstood, but they didn’t leave the path. The faith that inherits the promises is the one that does not waver, even in the silence of heaven.
You want to walk by faith? Then accept to walk with patience. Hebrews 6:12 tells you that we inherit the promises through faith and patience. Not faith alone. But patience. Oh, that word! So powerful! Because patience is the ability to remain in hope without murmuring. Oh, it hurts, but I believe. Oh, I see nothing, but I stand firm.
But impatience… Ah, impatience! The enemy’s favorite weapon to abort promises. It’s what drove Sarah to give her servant to Abraham. It’s what made Saul fall. Impatience destroyed Samson’s potential. He gave his secret to Delilah because he was tired. He had had enough. He broke. Every time someone was disqualified, you’ll find impatience behind it. It makes you lose strength, vision, anointing, and life.
And you? How many projects, how many relationships, how many decisions have you made too early? Because you didn’t want to wait for God. How many Ishmaels have you produced? You want to run, but God tells you: sit down. You want to rush, but God says: wait, I’m working in you. Impatience is hidden pride. It’s saying: “I know better than God.”
James 1:4: Let patience finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
This means there is a work that only patience can accomplish. You can listen to 50 sermons, but as long as you haven’t learned to wait, you’ll always miss something essential. Paul says he learned to endure everything.
In 2 Corinthians 6:4-5, he says: “Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses…” This is the journey of faith.
There is a kind of patience called “all-enduring patience.” That means even betrayal, slander, suffering – none of it makes you doubt anymore. You are firm. You are strong. You are stable. You say: “I know whom I have believed in.” Even if I’m abandoned, even if I suffer, I continue. And that’s when God says: “Now, your faith is strong. Now, I can manifest the promises. Now, you are ready.”
And you? Can your faith withstand the trial? Can it resist in the wilderness? Have you acquired that heavenly patience that makes you stop comparing yourself? That keeps you from breaking down? That keeps you faithful even when there’s no thrill, no emotion, no confirmation?
You’re here, and you acknowledge that you’ve murmured, that you’ve doubted, that impatience has corroded your faith. God has located you. Let Him work. Cry out to God. Not for the promises. But so that your heart would become patient. Create in me a patient heart, Lord! Deliver me from impatience! Deliver me from this family inheritance where everything is always rushed, hurried, superficial. Give me the strength to wait until my faith becomes strong! I cry out to You, Father!
Father, I cry out to You today. Form in me a patient heart, a solid heart, a heart that endures. Break the impatience that’s killing me. I recognize that I’ve often grown impatient. I went looking for my own solutions, just like Sarah gave Hagar to Abraham. Forgive me. Today, I want Isaac. I don’t want Ishmael anymore. I want Your perfect will, in Your perfect timing, with Your perfect process. Give me strong faith. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
Do you want to receive Jesus as your Savior?
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I have sinned. I believe that You died for me. Today, I accept You as my Lord and my Savior. Come into my heart. Change my life. Give me a new heart capable of walking with You. Amen.
