The devil never attacks dead wood. You really want to rest? Then die! But as long as you’re still alive, it’s because your work is not finished. Why do you think you’re just another church member? God saves no one for nothing. He saves and He calls. That’s what 2 Timothy 1:9 declares:
He has saved us and called us to a holy calling.
Not just saved… Saved AND called. It’s non-negotiable. It’s a divine equation. You can’t be saved without being on mission! So why are you still a spectator? Why are you still indifferent? Why haven’t you yet stepped into the work you were designed for? Many have died, others diagnosed without a single disease. But you—you’re still breathing. Why? Because your work is not finished!
You haven’t finished yet. That’s why you’re still standing. That’s why the diagnosis didn’t take you out. You want to know why you’re still breathing, while others younger than you, better trained than you, are already gone? Because your assignment is not complete. Because in Heaven, there’s still a bold stamp on your file: MISSION NOT FINISHED. As long as there’s breath in you, there’s a mission on earth.
Do you want to work for God? Then hold tightly to these two words that echo in every verse we read tonight: anointed and consecrated. God does not use the unprepared. He selects them, anoints them, and consecrates them. Every priest in the Bible — every son of Aaron, every man called to service — had to receive the anointing and the consecration.
They received the anointing as priests and were consecrated to minister as priests. (Numbers 3:3)
In other words: they were equipped by power and set apart for the exclusivity of their mission. No ministry without anointing. No impact without consecration.
And you? Are you ready to be set apart? Are you ready to say no to the distractions of the world? That is what it means to be consecrated. And the anointing is the divine ability to fulfill the task. You want to serve without being prepared? You want to work for Christ with a worldly passion? No. That’s not how God works. You need both: to be anointed and to be consecrated.
Many want to serve God… until they’re moved. Until they’re corrected. Until the opportunity to make money appears. Judas walked with Jesus! Friend of Jesus! He even kissed Him on the cheek to betray Him. And why? For thirty pieces of silver. Thirty thousand euros. The vision of wealth destroyed his destiny. You cannot have a vision to be a millionaire and serve God effectively.
Those who want to get rich fall into temptation, into a trap, and into many foolish and harmful desires. (1 Timothy 6:9)
You want to be a doctor? You’ll operate on the wrong organ just to earn money. You want to be a dentist? You’ll pull out healthy teeth just for the bill. You want to become a pastor with the love of money? You’ll become a Judas with a corrupt heart. Oh yes. And every pastor has in his church certain members who think they could preach better than him. There are always some orangutans disguised as holy disciples. But their heart is trapped. That’s why I ask you: what’s your vision? To earn money or to give yourself to God?
Some of you have said: “I don’t understand why there are so many battles.” But listen carefully to this spiritual truth: the devil never attacks dead wood. If you want a life without battles, then stay dead! But if you live for God — if you’re truly moving forward — then the Philistines will envy you, rise up against you. It’s inevitable.
With every level of consecration comes a level of persecution.
All who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. (2 Timothy 3:12)
But persecution is proof of your calling. You want peace and comfort? Then you’re not in ministry. Ministry is the battlefield of obedience.
There are no more ordinary members at ICC. Only men and women who are saved… and called. Even the youth. Even those who think they’re not qualified. Are you breathing? Are you alive? Are you saved? Then you are called. No calling begins with a microphone. The calling begins with a heart response. The calling begins with a heart that says: “Lord, here I am. You saved me. Here I am for my calling.”
It’s an offense in God’s eyes to say: ‘I’m just a regular Christian.’ He didn’t choose you to be a spectator. He didn’t forgive you so that you could be a worship commentator. He saved you to give you a holy calling! God doesn’t give random callings. He knows your name. He knows why you’re here. And until you step into your mission, your life will remain blurry.
John Wesley — at 87 years old — said in February: “I’m more tired than usual.” In March, he died. When you start saying too often: “I’m tired,” let me warn you: you may be living the last steps of your mission. But here’s the truth for you today: you’re not tired! The work is not done! It’s not over! You haven’t given it all yet. Oh, those who are to die will know it. But you who are reading these lines, you must rise up. You’re still standing because your mission is not finished!
If someone wants to know why they are still alive, the answer is simple: it’s because of your calling. It’s because of the work to which you haven’t yet said yes. So stop saying, “I’m tired.” Unless you want to die. You want to discover your true strength? Commit yourself. It’s not time to die yet. Your name is still listed among those who must work for the advancement of the Kingdom.
Father, I give You glory. You saved me and You called me. Today, I no longer want to live a passive life. I submit to Your will. I receive this good vision. I give myself fully. I refuse to chase wealth. I pursue the calling. Anoint me. Consecrate me. Ignite in me the fire of Your mission. I am Your instrument. Use me!
🙏 Lord Jesus, today I acknowledge that I need You. I believe that You died and rose again for my sins. I now accept You as my Lord and Savior. Make me a useful instrument in Your hands. I’m ready for my mission. Amen.
