The necessity of faith to walk with God – Apostle Yves CASTANOU

The necessity of faith to walk with God

Do you want to walk with God? First, learn to trust Him. Do you want to collaborate with the Spirit? You must have faith in His voice, faith in His movement. This world is not for the lukewarm or the hesitant: it is for men and women of faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please Him. Impossible. Did you hear that? Impossible! (Hebrews 11:6)

This was spoken by God Himself. You can pray, you can fast, you can sacrifice. But if He does not find faith in your heart, He will not delight in you. He won’t be able to let His glory flow through you.

And yet, there is a cry rising today from the heart of God: “Where are My men of faith?” Where are those who will believe, even without seeing, even without feeling, even without understanding? God’s number one problem is not your weakness, nor even your sin. God’s problem is your heart. A heart that doubts, a heart that backs away, a heart that suspects God has abandoned you… God cannot walk with that kind of heart.

So am I speaking to someone? Not to a crowd, not to the religious, no… I’m speaking to someone who wants to learn to trust.

You want to see God do wonders with your life? Brother, sister, what you need is a firm, living, active faith.

A heart of faith: essential foundation for walking with God

Look through the entire Bible. Tell me, with whom has God ever walked if that person didn’t first trust Him? Abraham believed… and it was accounted to him as righteousness. He became a friend of God. Do you want to be called His friend? Then you must learn to believe, to trust where there are no clues, no logic, nothing to indicate it will work.

God told you to go, but He didn’t give you all the details. He told you to sow, but you haven’t seen the rain yet. And now, here you are, waiting for proof, for signs, for guarantees. You’re just like the people of Israel in the desert. They walked with God but without faith, without a committed heart. And God said:

This people cannot enter My promise.

Why? Because of their unbelief.

Each time you doubt, you fall. Each time you back down, you withdraw. And God says: “I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”

But there is good hope! Even if your faith is fragile, even if it’s weak, know that it can grow. Faith comes. And how does it come? By hearing the Word of Christ (Romans 10:17). When you welcome the living Word, when you meditate on it, faith rises within you. It takes root.

This is why the psalmist cried out in Psalm 61:

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Why? Because he understood that there is another life, another dimension, another level with God. But that level is inaccessible without faith. You need faith to enter it!

You’re busy with God’s work but you doubt what He promised you? You’re fasting but filled with bitterness, gnawed by fear? That’s not enough! You need faith. Without faith, all of that is just noise, motion, human agitation.

Faith: a trust that is shaped and built

A heart of faith is not a heart that never falls. It’s not a heart that’s never afraid. No. A heart of faith is a heart that chooses to keep going, that chooses to get back up, that chooses to believe that God does not lie.

Look at Abraham. God said to him, “You will have descendants.” And then… nothing for 25 years! And yet, he hoped against all hope. He called things that were not yet as if they already were.

And why? Because he knew the One in whom he had believed! You cannot have faith in someone you don’t know. That’s why it is essential that you grow in intimacy with the Spirit. Faith is not a theory. It is the fruit of a relationship. The more I know God, the more I trust Him. The less I listen to Him, the more I doubt.

When you live with a woman for 20 years, she may be sharpening a knife to cut vegetables, but you don’t panic. Why? Because you know her! You know she’s not going to slit your throat. So why do you treat God like a stranger? Why do you doubt Him as if He’s going to abandon you? He is faithful. What He says, He brings to pass!

That’s why you must feed your faith!

  • Study the Word.
  • Meditate on the rhema.
  • Write down what God told you.
  • Go back to it every day like a soldier rereading his mission orders.

You want to be solid? You want to walk forward with God? Then be rooted in Christ, grounded in Christ, established in faith. (Colossians 2:6-7)

The gift of faith: a powerful spiritual weapon for times of crisis

But there is another dimension still. There’s what we call the gift of faith. This gift does not manifest all the time, but God releases it by His Spirit for a specific purpose. It’s not just the faith to live; it’s the faith to operate. The faith to move mountains. The faith that shatters earthly limitations.

Jesus at the tomb of Lazarus. Four days! He already stank. Science said it was impossible. But Jesus said:

Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?

This declaration is not just a promise: it’s a kingdom key. Do you want to see the glory of God? Believe!

The gift of faith is that supernatural capacity to believe that God is going to act now. It’s not an emotion. It’s not a personal ambition. It’s God placing in your spirit an irreversible conviction that “it’s going to happen!” You don’t know how, but you know it’s going to be done.

This gift moves in the lives of those who walk in permanent communion with the Spirit. It doesn’t knock on the doors of those who pray on Sundays and sleep the rest of the week. It reveals itself to those who are constantly connected to God’s thoughts.

Tommy Hicks, the man God used to shake Latin America, fasted for 40 days and saw nothing. Nothing! He comes out, not even a healing. And he goes back for another 40 days. Still nothing. But the third time… revival explodes in Argentina! Do you think God wasn’t watching? No. God was testing his endurance. It’s the same God who’s watching you today. Will you crack or will you persevere?

The power of a faith grounded in the revealed Word

This is not faith based on emotions. It’s not faith founded on circumstances. It’s faith that was born from the Word. God told me, so I believe. And because I believe, I speak. And because I speak, I see.

Mark 11:23 – You will say to this mountain “be moved,” and if you do not doubt in your heart, you will see it come to pass.

Jesus said it! But people talk a lot without having heard from God. And that’s not faith. That’s presumption. True faith comes from the rhema – the word made alive, revealed, and breathed by the Spirit.

So walk by faith! And above all, develop a heart of faith. For no one has ever walked sustainably with God without faith. The Holy Spirit gives today to the one who’s hungry, the one who’s thirsty, the gift of faith to serve, to set free, to operate. Seize it. It’s your inheritance. It’s your spiritual endowment!

Let’s pray together

Father, today I refuse powerless religion, doubt disguised as fervor. I choose to trust You. I choose to walk by faith. Break in me everything that doubts You, everything that limits Your action. Deposit in me the gift of faith. I want to reveal Your glory on the earth. Give me a believing heart, a solid heart, rooted in Christ. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

🙏 If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, pray this prayer with faith:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe that You died for my sins and that You rose again. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Transform my life and lead me on Your path. Amen.

At the heart of the Bible

  • Romans 10:17 – Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ
  • Galatians 5:16 – Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh
  • Hebrews 11:6 – Without faith it is impossible to please Him
  • Habakkuk 2:4 – The righteous shall live by his faith
