Stay on Fire During Summer – Ps Juliana ONDO

Stay on fire this summer

Say a big amen with me. This summer, whether you’re on mission, on vacation, or on a family road trip, only one thing matters: stay on fire! Not lukewarm. Not asleep. On fire! Summer is not a license for your soul to empty out or your spirit to slumber. Jesus said: “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). This is not optional. It is a divine command.

Why do so many believers relapse during vacation time? Why do so many come back from summer weaker than when they entered it? Because they’ve confused rest with slackness. But that will not be your portion. Let me tell you today: you can rest, but you will not slack off. You can relax your body, but your spirit will remain alert. Yes, you will sleep, but your prayer altar will not be extinguished. The fire must continually burn on your altar! I speak to you prophetically: this summer, you will not fall into lukewarmness. You will rise in fire! Hallelujah.

Staying on fire doesn’t mean despising rest

God Himself established rest. He instituted it from Genesis. In Exodus 20:9, He declares: “Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God.” God Himself rested. Rest is biblical, slackness is not. The problem isn’t vacations, but what you do with your fire during your vacation. And I’m going to explain it clearly to you.

True rest according to God

Rest is God’s idea. A time to recharge our body, soothe our thoughts, and redirect our hearts. But beware of the counterfeit: the world calls “vacation” what often means letting go. Worldly vacations are about putting everything on pause: prayer, meditation, sanctification, consecration. We put our fire in a drawer for the duration of the vacation. We binge on Netflix. We abandon discipline. We dance with sin, saying, “Relax, it’s vacation.” We allow ourselves things we would have rejected in previous months. But I decree over your life: this year, you will not be found on Temptation Island. You will be found on Consecration Island, in the mighty name of Jesus!

The distinction is simple: vacation invites you to let go of everything. Rest calls you to reposition yourself in God’s presence. Vacation is centered on the ego. Biblical rest brings your soul back to the Father.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

This verse teaches you one thing: true rest begins when you lay your burdens at the feet of Jesus. Not when you set your suitcase down in Dubai or the Seychelles.

When you stay on fire, you keep meditating, praying, and watching even on vacation. You continue to hide the word in your heart. Deuteronomy 6:5-8 is clear: “Thou shalt talk of them […] when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Even on the beach, your Bible must be in your heart. Yes, you can tan, but don’t let your spiritual fire go out. You can swim, but let your prayer altar stay lit! Just say: this summer, I stay on fire!

Vacation without fire = a summer of vulnerability

Summer, for many, is a time when the enemy looks for an open window.

But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat. (Matthew 13:25)

While you’re spiritually asleep, while you stop your prayer life, the devil takes advantage to sow thoughts, habits, distractions, and relationships. And after the vacation, the believer wonders: “Where is this heaviness coming from? Why this dryness? Why have I lost the anointing?”

Because you fell asleep. Because you confused vacation with spiritual disconnection. But that ends today in the name of Jesus! This year, summer will be a camp of elevation for you, not spiritual decline. A field of fire, not a ground of tares.

Your personal fire is your best spiritual bodyguard. As long as you stay on fire, the enemy retreats. As long as you pray in tongues, meditate on the word, and keep watch, he cannot sow. You cannot fight while asleep! You must watch and pray that you enter not into temptation (Matthew 26:41).

Listen to me carefully: a fall doesn’t happen brutally. It happens subtly because we stopped keeping watch. One less hour of prayer. One missed meditation. One show watched. One song accepted. And the slope becomes slippery…

But God is lifting you up today. Say with me: You are the One who lifts up! Even if you fell yesterday, God is restoring you. Even if you fell asleep, He is waking you. You may be down, but He saw you. He lays His hand and says: “Arise! Come back into My presence. Rekindle your fire. My son, my daughter, I still have things to do with you.”

Intimacy: your antidote to spiritual sleep

Here’s the key: stay close to God’s heart. Stay in prayer. Jesus Himself prayed before the dawn.

Luke 5:16 says that He withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

He withdrew not to sleep, but to behold, to speak with the Father. Want to thrive this summer? Seek the secret place. Schedule retreats. Take breaks not for Netflix, but for the Lord.

A retreat can be in your home, in a room, in a living room turned into an upper room, ignited by the presence of God. Unplug from social media. Plug into heaven. Take time to recharge. Pray in tongues. Meditate. Listen to ten teachings a day if needed. Increase the volume. Raise the temperature. The fire will melt all your battles. Your essential oil is not what’s going to break your enemies. Your fire will! Turn your burner to 10. Watch God melt the locks, the delays, the chains!

God wants a burning altar.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 says: Pray without ceasing.

Pray during summer. Keep watch even while on vacation. Let your spirit never sleep! Rest your body, yes. Unburden your soul, yes. But let your spirit remain active. Let it keep interceding, warring in the secret place. Even in your body’s sleep, may it be said of you in the darkness: that one, he/she remains a terror to hell. Even in dreams, he prays, he fights, he tears down, he plows. You are an altar on fire. A wall of protection for your own. This summer, you will be the watchman over your house. Even without a title, even as a simple disciple, you are equipped to burn!

Let’s pray together

Father, I stand before You and cry out: rekindle the fire in me! I refuse to sleep spiritually. Even in rest, I want to stay on fire. I choose to stay awake. Make me sensitive to Your Spirit. I offer You this vacation. Don’t allow my flesh to draw me away. I want to come out of this summer transformed, filled, saturated with Your presence. Let my guard remain high, let my altar remain lit, and let my life manifest Your glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!

🙏 If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, pray this with faith:

Lord Jesus, today I choose to follow You. I acknowledge that I am lost far from You. Forgive my sins. Wash me from all iniquity. I believe You died for me and rose again. I receive You as my Savior and my Lord. Fill me with Your Spirit and make me burn for You. Amen.
