J1 – 7 DISCIPLINES TO RECEIVE THE LATTER RAIN (PART 1) – Apostle Mohammed SANOGO

7 disciplines to receive the latter rain (Part 1)

“If anyone is thirsty…” That’s all Jesus requires. Not advanced education. Not a flawless reputation. A thirsty heart. A soul that cries out: “Lord, I need more!” Are you thirsty? Because everything starts there. The latter rain does not fall on satisfied spectators, arms crossed in well-ordered services. It falls on those who cry out like Bartimaeus: “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

In John 7:37-39, Jesus proclaims: “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” This river that bursts forth is not ordinary. It is the Spirit that those who believed were to receive. Not just a shiver. Not a song that gives you chills. A river! Uncontrollable. Deep. Irresistible. And this river—listen to me—must spring up from you. Not just flow to you. It must come out of you!

But before receiving, we must understand the nature of this rain. Scripture speaks clearly: there is the former rain (Pentecost) and there is a latter rain. Joel prophesied it (Joel 2:23-28). James confirms it (James 5:7). Zechariah commands us to ask for it (Zechariah 10:1). And God promises that this rain will “restore the years that were devoured.” If you want your lost past restored, if you want your destiny redeemed, this rain is for you. But it falls on prepared ground. It falls on new wineskins. It falls on disciples.

Be ready: God is about to release a rain this world has never seen, but He won’t do it for those who only want to feel. He will do it for those who want to carry, build, pass on, endure. He will do it for those who have prepared themselves.

Thirst, the trigger of every outpouring

The detonator of this prophetic anointing is thirst. Not talent, not past exploits. Just thirst. Jesus shouted it — He didn’t just say it, He SHOUTED it. He lifted His voice above all other voices. Because when you are thirsty, all the other voices shout too. The voice of ambition. The voice of family. The voice of your suffering. The voice of pressure. But Jesus raises His voice: “If anyone is thirsty…”

Are you thirsty for peace? Come to Him. Thirsty for a home? Come to Him. Thirsty for healing? Come to Him. The mistake many make is drinking from dead sources. He didn’t say: “Go to marriage” or “Go to money” or “Go to human connections.” He said: “Come to me!”

Well-placed thirst makes you a channel: “Rivers of living water will flow from within him.” Do you hear that? You won’t be the stagnant lake of God’s blessings — you’ll be a river. Where you stand, life will spring forth. Where there was shame, peace will overflow. Where there was chaos, victory will erupt.

But for that, your thirst must find the right address. Look around you: the generation is stricken. Our families are broken. Our youth are anxious. Our men are lost. We need women and men who become sources! The latter rain falls on those who become living ground.

Witnesses, not commentators

Acts 1:8 is not poetic inspiration. It’s a divine strategy:

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses.

This is not about a moment of emotion. It’s a mandate. A calling. A mark. You cannot be a witness if you lack the power.

To be a witness is not to say “I was there.” To be a witness is to be the living proof that what God says is true. It means your very existence demonstrates God. When someone stands before you, they can say: “Here is proof that Jesus heals! Here is proof that Jesus restores! Here is proof that Jesus transforms!”

People have seen enough preaching. Enough broadcasts. Enough Christian slogans. They need proof. And you are that proof! That is why Jesus says: “YOU will be my witnesses.” Not just pastors. Not just prophets. YOU.

So we must have the power. Not just the early power. The apostles had the beginning. But there is a greater level. The world has changed. Darkness has risen. Hell has stepped up its attacks. Heaven must release a new outpouring.

The latter rain: an outpouring to restore lost years

Look at Joel 2:25. God says:

I will restore to you the years that the locust, the swarming locust, the crawling locust, and the consuming locust have eaten.

He speaks of years! That means there are spiritual battles that don’t just steal peace or money. They steal TIME. Lost years. Stolen. Ravaged.

  • The Harbè is the mass locust. It brings generational devastation. It doesn’t just strike one person, it hits nations, families. Suddenly, no man lives beyond 50. Barrenness, chronic failure, become normal. But God says: “I will restore those devoured years.”
  • The crawling locust, the Gec, destroys from the root. You never even knew childhood. You were raped at 8. Used at 10. A mother before being a daughter. Your reference points, your joy, your innocence — all stolen. But the latter rain is coming to replace those ravaged years.
  • The Hasil? It strikes at harvest. You worked hard! You were on the brink of success. Of marriage. Of rest. And suddenly… everything collapsed. I heard the story of a brother who built a building his whole life, only to have the authorities demolish it in minutes. That’s the Hasil, the locust that attacks the fruit. But Heaven refuses to leave that unpunished. A rain is coming!
  • The Gazam? It attacks your righteousness. You became bitter. Harsh. Disillusioned. You had faith. You had zeal. But wound after wound, your heart dried up. The Gazam attacks palms — and the righteous are compared to palm trees. This locust breaks the values of the righteous. It turns you into a bitter religious person. But God says: “I will restore those years!”

This is the rain we are calling for. Not just to feel good in a worship service. But to be transformed. Redeemed. Re-established.

Prepare your vessel: the wisdom to receive and endure

But beware — the rain comes for all, but it only remains in prepared wineskins. Jesus said: “No one puts new wine into old wineskins.” Why? They burst. Too small. Misshapen. Unprepared.

In Matthew 25, all the virgins had lamps. But only the wise had oil in reserve. The foolish? Let their flame go out for lack of depth. Yet they were virgins. They sought God. But they had no discipline! No structure. No wisdom.

Proverbs 9:1 says: “Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out her seven pillars.” That’s what we will see tomorrow! The 7 pillars. The 7 disciplines essential for those who want to receive, keep, and release the latter rain.

To you who are thirsty, be ready to build. Be ready to receive the hidden wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:6-10). Days are coming when only prepared hearts will withstand the pressure of the coming glory. Don’t flee discipline. Seek it. Desire it.

Let’s pray together

Lord Jesus, I desire your presence. You know the years that were stolen. You know what the enemy took from me. I no longer want to settle for what I’ve known. I want to experience you like never before. Let the latter rain fall on me. Transform me into new wineskins, built according to your wisdom. I await your rain, Lord! I long for it! I’m ready to change, ready to deny myself. Prepare my heart. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

If you have never given your life to Jesus, say this prayer in faith:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe You died for my sins and that You rose again. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Savior. Transform my life and lead me according to Your will. Amen.
